By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

The 2025 edition of PROFEMATEUR 7 will hold this October and November at the Lawyer Farm Pitch, Adelemo, Sango Ota, Ogun State, marking a landmark 10th anniversary of the grassroots women’s football tournament.

In line with the theme of “10 for 10,” the competition will feature 10 teams, echoing the Nigerian senior women’s national team’s record 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title.

It should be noted that Super Falcons had a camp in Ogun State where they defeated Cameroon 2-0 in a friendly before traveling to Morocco to clinch their 10th WAFCON title.

Confirmed teams include:

Oshoala Ladies
Onosky Angels (Onome Ebi)
Ijamilusi Queens
Henrietta Ukaigwe Queens
Ayisat Yusuf Ladies
Kolawole Queens and four others set to be unveiled soon.

Since its inception, PROFEMATEUR 7 has become a springboard for emerging talents, with several alumnae graduating to the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL), national teams, and professional clubs abroad.

Past champions

Oshoala Ladies (Season 1)
Ayisat Yusuf Angels (Seasons 2 & 9)
Oluehi Angels (Seasons 3 & 5)
Tee High Queens (Season 4)
Omagbemi Queens (Season 6)
Henrietta Ukaigwe Queens (Season 7)
Kolawole Queens (Season 8)

The tournament’s mission is not only to crown champions but also to discover and nurture raw talent.

Organisers work closely with academies, NWFL clubs, and scouts to connect standout players with the next level of their careers.

Notable past participants include Oluwatosin Demehin, Innocent Patricia, Esther Onyenezide, Oluwaseun Anani, Blessing Sunday, Kafayat Mafisere, and Oluwatosin Ogundeko, many of whom have gone on to represent Nigeria internationally.

As the 10th edition approaches, excitement is building around which team will etch their name into history and which players will rise as the next stars of Nigerian women’s football.
