Confluence Queens Appoint Nsikakabasi Okon as New Technical Adviser
Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) side Confluence Queens Football Club have confirmed the appointment of Nsikakabasi Okon as their new Technical Adviser following an impressive spell as Interim Head Coach.
Okon, formerly of First Mahi Bases FC, was handed interim responsibility for the Lokoja-based club and made an immediate impact, picking up four points from a possible six in two league matches. His brief but productive tenure included a commanding 3–0 away victory over Dannaz Ladies of Lagos and a hard-fought draw against previously unbeaten Nasarawa Amazons of Lafia.
The win over Dannaz Ladies was particularly significant, marking Confluence Queens’ first victory of the season as well as their first-ever triumph against the Lagos-based side. The result provided a timely boost in the club’s battle to avoid relegation.
Before his elevation, Okon had served as Assistant Coach to former Technical Adviser Folabi Ojekunle, who was in charge for league fixtures against Delta Queens and Osun Babes. His familiarity with the squad and recent positive results were key factors in the club’s decision to hand him the role on a permanent basis.
Kogi State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Monday Aridaojo Anyebe, has charged the newly appointed Technical Adviser to step up efforts and guide the team to safety by the end of the season.
“We believe in your quality, and we want you to put in all the leadership and technical requirements needed in the technical department to ensure the team beats the drop zone,” the Commissioner said in a statement.
He also urged Okon to instill discipline within the squad and give his utmost commitment to the task ahead.
With the NWFL season entering a decisive phase, Confluence Queens will look to build on recent momentum as they continue their fight for survival, with Nsikakabasi Okon now entrusted with the responsibility of steering the team away from relegation.
