Abdullahi Isa Highlights Nigeria Beach Soccer League’s Role in Strengthening Super Sand Eagles

Head coach of the Nigeria national beach soccer team, Abdullahi Isa, has emphasised the importance of the Nigeria Beach Soccer League (NBSL) in developing players and strengthening the national team setup.

Isa noted that the league continues to play a key role in expanding the talent pool available to the technical crew while ensuring players remain competitive throughout the season.

“The NBSL has, and is still playing, a significant role in shaping and strengthening the national team. It provides the technical crew the opportunity to scout from a wider and more competitive pool of players,” Isa told beachsoccer.ng.

“It also helps to keep selected players match-fit and tactically sharper, reducing preparation time before every international competition.”

The coach also outlined his tactical philosophy, which centres on intensity, creativity and tactical discipline while creating a competitive but enjoyable environment for players.

“My beach soccer coaching philosophy is built on intensity, creativity, tactical intelligence and player development within a challenging but enjoyable environment,” he explained.

“My teams aim to play fast and direct in attack, with quick vertical play and early shots on goal. We use rotational movement in a 1-2-1-1 formation. Defensively, we are aggressive in transitions, with immediate counter-pressing. We remain compact in central areas and force opponents wide.”

Isa revealed that the Super Sand Eagles will participate in an invitational tournament in Ghana in May 2026 as part of preparations for the qualifiers for the Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations.

Looking ahead, he said the upcoming continental championship remains the team’s immediate priority, with plans already in motion to ensure proper preparation.

“The upcoming Beach Soccer AFCON is our primary focus at the moment. The plan is to start early preparation by organising structured pre-tournament camps, playing friendly matches and competing in structured tournaments like the ABSU competition,” Isa said.

“That way, the players become more experienced and gain the confidence to face any opponent.”

Beyond the continental stage, Isa reiterated his long-term ambition of building a tactically mature and competitive squad capable of dominating on the African stage and challenging strongly at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.

With domestic structures continuing to grow and early preparations already underway, the Super Sand Eagles are aiming to raise their profile both in Africa and on the global stage.
