Abuja Hosts CAF Women’s Football Administrators’ Workshop as Regional Leaders Arrive

Participants for the three-day Confederation of African Football (CAF) Women’s Football Administrators’ Workshop have begun arriving in Abuja ahead of the programme scheduled to run from April 26 to 28.

The workshop, set to take place at the Exclusive Serene Hotel and Suites, brings together chairpersons of Women’s Football Commissions and heads of women’s football departments from the seven countries in the West African Football Union Zone B (WAFU-B): Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Niger Republic, Togo, and Benin Republic.

Sunday’s opening ceremony will be declared open by President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, who also serves as WAFU-B President. He will be joined by WAFU-B Executive Director Philippe Tchere, CAF Head of Women’s Football Goshime Meskerem, WAFU-B Women’s Football Commission President Amina Amani, and Women’s Football Development Manager Precious Dede.

Former Nigeria international goalkeeper Precious Dede, alongside Meskerem and CAF instructors Jules McGeever and Thuba Sibanda, will facilitate sessions throughout the workshop.

Day One will feature presentations on topics such as the growth and evolution of women’s football in Africa, a global overview of the women’s game, regional challenges and achievements, and leadership scenarios.

On Day Two, discussions will include strategic planning for holistic development—drawing lessons from the Ghana Football Association—along with case studies on building successful clubs like Mamelodi Sundowns and ASEC Mimosas, branding in women’s football, and development frameworks.

The final day will focus on strategic planning, including defining long-term goals, mapping out implementation strategies, consolidating findings, and translating discussions into actionable steps aimed at advancing women’s football across the WAFU-B region.
