El-Kanemi Warriors Midfielder Daddy Abdulrahman Targets Top Scorer Prize in NPFL

El-Kanemi Warriors midfielder Daddy Abdulrahman has revealed his determination to give his “best” in the run-in for the top scorer’s prize in this season’s Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
Abdulrahman has been a central figure in El-Kanemi’s campaign, netting 10 goals in 33 appearances so far. The former Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) player is confident he can add more goals before the season concludes.
“I feel very excited to be among the top scorers because this is the first season I have scored this many goals in the league,” Abdulrahman told NPFL.com.ng. “Yes, my target is to score more goals. The gap between me and the top scorers is just two goals. I will try my best to improve my tally. I believe I can score two, three, or even five more goals before the end of the season. Whatever God allows me to get, I will accept it.”
For a midfielder in a league where goals are often hard to come by even for strikers, Abdulrahman remains optimistic about his chances of finishing as the leading scorer. He pointed out that the unpredictability of the NPFL offers him an opportunity to challenge the strikers at the top of the scoring charts.
“At this point in the season, you cannot predict anything. The other top scorers are mostly strikers, which gives them an advantage, but I will give my best. If I don’t finish as top scorer, I will aim for second place. Finishing first is my target as well,” he added.
Abdulrahman credited his impressive goalscoring form to the support of his teammates, particularly midfield partners Zayyad Musa and Muktar Ismail. The trio have been pivotal to El-Kanemi’s midfield, a partnership that dates back to their days in the Nigeria National League (NNL).
“We are three of us who understand each other and have been playing together for a while — that is myself, Zayyad Musa, and Muktar Ismail. When I returned from Shooting Stars, I found it easy to fit into the team because of Zayyad and Muktar. We’ve always played together from our NNL days, and we are the main midfielders,” Abdulrahman explained.
Looking ahead, the midfielder said El-Kanemi Warriors are focused on their upcoming match against Barau FC in Kano this Sunday. He is hopeful of a positive result despite acknowledging the challenge posed by the Maliya Boys.
“Our next focus is Barau FC, who we play in Kano. We are on the same points with them, and it won’t be an easy match because goal difference can be crucial at the end of the season. I just want to go there and give my best. We want to get a result and return home ready to win against Niger Tornadoes,” Abdulrahman concluded.
