Nigeria’s U-17 women’s team, the Flamingos, delivered another dominant display with a resounding 5–0 victory over Lakeside Queens FA in a preparatory friendly ahead of their FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifier against Guinea.
The Flamingos wasted no time asserting control, opening the scoring in the 16th minute through Kemi Adekemi after a fine assist from Queen Joseph. The youngsters continued to dictate play and doubled their advantage in the 36th minute when Mary Dunstan found the back of the net to give Nigeria a comfortable lead at halftime.
Coach Akeem Busari’s side returned for the second half with even greater intensity. Harmony Chidi added the third goal in the 51st minute off an assist from Rodiat before Sefiat Idris made it 4–0 just three minutes later, finishing calmly from Precious Oscar’s setup.
The fifth and final goal arrived in the 67th minute when Ebube connected from a corner delivered by Sefiat Idris to complete another emphatic performance by the Flamingos.
The result further underlines the team’s impressive form heading into the crucial qualifier against Guinea on May 23. In six recent friendly matches, the Flamingos have recorded five wins and one draw, scoring 28 goals while conceding just twice.
