Rangers Chairman Confirms Ilechukwu Will Remain Head Coach for 2026/27 Season

Chairman of Rangers International FC, Amobi Ezeaku, has dismissed speculation surrounding the future of Technical Adviser Fidelis Ilechukwu, confirming that the highly-rated tactician will remain in charge of the club for the 2026/27 season.
Speaking to journalists in Enugu, Ezeaku reaffirmed the club’s commitment to supporting Ilechukwu as Rangers look to build on their recent success in the Nigeria Premier Football League.
The Rangers boss made it clear that there are no plans to part ways with the coach, who guided the Flying Antelopes to their record-equalling ninth NPFL title.
“I will be direct as the young tactician will stay with the club next season,” Ezeaku stated when asked about Ilechukwu’s future.
The chairman also revealed that he recently held discussions with the coach, who is currently with the Super Eagles in Portugal, regarding some of the challenges he encountered during the campaign.
“I spoke with Ilechukwu upon his arrival with the Super Eagles in Portugal, and he informed me of some of the challenges he encountered. We have assured him that those issues will be addressed ahead of next season,” Ezeaku added.
Ilechukwu’s continued stay is expected to provide stability for Rangers as they prepare to defend their league crown and compete in next season’s CAF Champions League.
Having delivered domestic success, the coach will now be tasked with helping Rangers make a strong impact on the continental stage while maintaining their status among Nigeria’s elite clubs.
With the backing of the club’s management firmly behind him, Ilechukwu is set to lead the Flying Antelopes into another ambitious campaign as Rangers target further silverware in the 2026/27 season.
