Rukayat Shobowale ‘feels excited’ after first goal of the season in Robo Queens win

FC Robo Queens midfielder, Rukayat Shobowale  admits it ‘feels good’ to have scored her first goal of the season in Robo Queens’ 3-0 victory over Adamawa Queens in a Nigeria Women’s Football League game on Wednesday.
After a 2-0 lead at half time, coach Emmanuel Osahon introduced Shobowale in the second half after  and she went on to make an impactful presence for the Lagos LandLadies, scoring the third goal of the match.
In this exclusive chat with nigeriafootball.ng, the midfielder, who won the 2021 Best Young Player of the Flying Officers Cup is delighted with her effort at Legacy pitch and even more pleased to guarantee her side victory.
“I feel excited scoring my first league goal of the season, and it came in a massive home win against Adamawa Queens,” Shobowale told Nigeriafootball.ng.
“I don’t have much to say but we give God the glory, though we were underrated but we are now back to form which is good for the team.
“We know it’s not going to be easy but we will work more on our weak areas and give our best in upcoming games in the league.
“There are no small teams in the league again because everyone is fighting for survival or to qualify for the Super 6, so there’s something at stake for the teams, we will continue to give our all in the games ahead as this win will spur the team back to form.”
After six games in the first stanza, Robo Queens are sixth on the Group B table with seven points and they will look to improve on their prospect in the second round on Febuary 8 after the mid-season break.
The dynamic midfielder admitted that the team will face a difficult hurdle in qualifying for the Super 6 but they remained determined to achieve the feat.
“My expectations for the second half of the league is to see the team win matches because we won’t relent and we will fight till the end,” she continued.
“It’s our dream to win the NWFL Premiership title but we have to cross the hurdle of qualifying for the Super 6 first and work towards winning the league title at the Super 6.”
