Jose Peseiro watches as Bendel Insurance drop first point against Gombe United

Nigeria coach Jose Peseiro was at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, Edo State, on Saturday to watch the 2022/2023 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) encounter between Bendel Insurance and Gombe United.
The Portuguese gaffer watched the match alongside the Head of the Technical Department of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Augustine Eguavoen.
For the first time this season, Benin Arsenal dropped points after a 0-0 draw with Gombe United despite the hosts’ possessive style of play.
The visitors had the best chances of the first half but couldn’t capitalise on them when a counter-attack was launched from the right, Gimba connects Samuel who in turn located Taye Yusuf.
Yusuf beat two of his markers from the left before firing a weak shot easily saved by goalkeeper Obasogie in the 13th minute.
In the second half, Bendel Insurance put pressure on Gombe United’s defence in search of a goal, but the visitors hold on for a precious draw.
The draw ended Bendel Insurance’s perfect start to the campaign after five wins in its first five league games.
The Benin City-based side tops Group A with 16 points, four points ahead of Remo Stars, who will on Sunday face Akwa United in Uyo after a 1-0 win over Enyimba on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, black armband will be worn and a minute silence shall be observed in all Nigeria Premier Football League Match Day 6 games in honor of the late Referee Dr. Kingsley Eneogwe.
The referee died in an accident on his way back home after officiating in the game between Nasarawa United and Plateau United on Wednesday.
