Osigwe Chukwuamaka aims to keep living the dream after Confluence Queens’ brace

By Wale Mustapha
Osigwe Chukwuamaka is determined to keep living the dream at Confluence Queens, following her goalscoring start in a 2-0 win over Ibom Angels in a Nigeria Women’s Football League Permiership encounter on Friday.
The young sensation had joined the Lokoja based side last November from Beautiful Tours but found regular game time hard to come by of late due to the presence of club’s leading scorer Chioma Moses.
With Moses’ move to Edo Queens mid-season, Chukwuamaka has been handed the task to lead the attack and she didn’t waste time to make her mark, handing Whyte Ogbonna’s side a historic fourth consecutive win with a brace.
With her first brace in the Nigerian topflight, the elated former Beautiful Tours striker will be giving her all to the collective cause as she vows not to let struggles for recognition cast a cloud over her time in Confluence.
“I feel very happy and blessed for my first start and the goals, because it has not been easy, I’ve been struggling for many months to raise my game and standard,” Osigwe told Nigeriafootball.ng.
“My coaches used to complain that I’m a good player but I don’t play up to expectations in match situation, so I had to double my efforts to meet up and I’m happy it paid off today.
“I came from Beautiful Tours Angels in Abuja, we have a team of young and excellent players, our coaches taught us very well and always prepare us for bigger challenges like this.
“Coming here and given an opportunity to play means tells that I worked hard and played to instructions which I appreciate and will want to continue like that.”
When asked about her target with the Lokoja based club, she reveals that inspiring the team to a Super Six playoff return for the first time since 2019 on her first topflight outing remain her main goal.
“This is my first premier league experience and I want to make good use of it,” she continued.
“I want to help the team achieve the target of reaching the Super 6 (playoffs) and God’s willing, win it.”
Her brace means Chukwuamaka has scored three goals this season and just two behind joint leaders – Chioma Moses and Chinaza Agoh on the scorers chart.
