Nigeria Victor Osimhen is the best striker to have played for Napoli, according to Catania managing director, Peter Lo Monaco.
The Nigeria international is Serie A’s leading scorer with 17 goals in 18 appearances and could become the first Partenopei player to score in seven consecutive Serie A matches since the 1994/95 season if he nets against Sassuolo.
Napoli witnessed a lot of quality strikers since Aurelio De Laurentiis became president in 2004, with the likes of Ezequiel Lavezzi, Gonzalo Higuain, Edinson Cavani, Dries Mertens, and Arkadiusz Milik, amongst others.
However, Lo Monaco, who has watched all the strikers that have played for Napoli since De Laurentiis believes the 24-year-old is the best striker Naples have seen since De Laurentiis took over the reins.
“The strongest striker of the De Laurentiis era is Osimhen,” Lo Monaco told Napoli Magazine.
“Osimhen can still give a lot. After Osimhen, the next two are Higuain and Cavani. We are talking about three immense players. Osimhen can still reach top levels like Haaland.”
