Nigeria National League fixes deadline for players’ registration

Ahead of the kick-off of the new season, the Nigeria National League (NNL) has scheduled Thursday, March 2, 2023, for the deadline for registration of players and officials of clubs.

In a release on Monday, NNL confirmed that the new season kicks off on March 3 and the league body had opened the portal to clubs to register their players and officials on or before March 2.

The registration will take place online after which clubs are expected to pick the license of their players and officials.

Meanwhile, the draw of the NNL for next season will now take place on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, virtually from 11:00.

The draw will determine the team’s fixtures for the season on a home and away basis. The groupings and format for the 2022/2023 season have been concluded with teams pitted into Northern and Southern Conferences.

The two Conferences of second-tier NNL which comprised a total of 43 teams have been broken into four more sub-divisions. The new groups have regional considerations that will see the teams not travel beyond 400 kilometres to honour games.

Teams that top the various groups will qualify for a possible NNL Super 8 which will determine the four teams that will gain promotion to top flight Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
