‘They made it possible’ – Tosan Blankson refuses to take credit for Delta Queens feat

Delta Queens head coach Tosan Blankson has reacted to his laudable achievement after becoming the first Nigeria Women’s Football League Premiership side to seal a spot in the prestigious Super Six tournament.

With two NWFL Premiership match week to go till the end of the regular season, the Asaba based ladies made history by being the first club to seal their qualification and also remain unbeaten with 24 points from ten matches.

The Delta Queens tactician has reflected on their impressive season campaign, while thanking his cooperative players, the supportive management and state government for making the achievement possible.

“Right from week four, when we won our first four matches, we knew we are already there for super six,” Blackson told Nigeriafootball.ng.

“With encouragement the State government is giving to the team, we don’t have any reason to disappoint. I don’t feel great about this achievement, because the players are the ones too be appreciated. They made it possible.

“Until the super six is won, they (Players) will not relent. Promise they have made. The draw Royal Queens got was well deserved. They gave their best, it was as if the match depended to their survival in the league. Congratulations to them for the first draw they have gotten with Delta Queens in any competitive match.

“Hundred percent unbeaten is not the ultimate. Winning the Super Six is the call to duty. We will take the remaining matches as a section to achieving our goal, which is the Super 6.”

Delta Queens seat at the top of the NWFL Premiership group A log with a five points lead over rivals Bayelsa Queens and will travel to Abuja to play against Naija Ratels at the Old Parade ground on the 12th of April.
