By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde
Nigeria forward, Anam Imo scored double-figure goals in the Swedish Damallsvenskan championship as Pitea defeated IK Uppsala Fotboll 2-1 on Sunday.
Cecilia Edlund’s 50th-minute own goals gave Uppsala the lead in what seemed to be a bad day in the office for the visitors.
Imo stepped up as the team’s main penalty taker to convert her tenth league goal of the season in the 63rd minute.
In the additional minutes of the second half, she had another opportunity from the spot to win the game for Stellan Karlsson’s side and didn’t miss from the penalty spot.
The former Nasarawa Amazons star played the full 90 minutes for her side while compatriot, Faith Michael was an unused substitute.
Imo has scored 11 goals in 14 league games this season with two assists and is now the second on the goal scorer chart, though tied with Canadian international Evelyne Viens and and a goal behind Rosengard’s Olivia Schough.
The win lifted her team to the third position on the table with 33 points after 15 games.
