Oparanozie apologizes to Nigerians for penalty miss in Round of 16 loss to England

Nigerian striker, Desire Oparanozie has tendered her apology to Nigerians for missing her spot kick in Super Falcons’ loss to England on Monday.
Nigeria crashed out in second round of the FIFA Women’s World Cup after losing 4-2 on penalties against the Europe an champions.
The girls of Coach Randy Waldrum dominated the larger part of the game but fell short of initiative to wrap things up in the normal and extra time.
Oparanozie took the first spot kick for Nigeria and placed it wide before Michelle Alozie skied her own effort from the spot.
The Chinese based striker posted on her Twitter page after the team’s defeat to England on Monday, shared a picture of herself in tears being consoled by goalkeeper Nnadozie and apologized to Nigerians.
She wrote, “Sad day! Very disappointing to have lost through penalties, and even more disappointing not to have converted mine. And for this, I deeply apologize.”
