BOWFT 2023: Bayelsa Queens edge Delta Queens to set up final date with Edo Queens

The stage is set for the final of the 2023 Betsy Obaseki Women’s Football Tournament (BOWFT) between Bayelsa Queens and hosts Edo Queens after the conclusion of the semi-finals on Monday.

In a repeat of the 2022/2023 NWFL Premiership Super Six final, Bayelsa Queens avenged their loss to Delta Queens with a 5-4 victory on penalties after the regulation time ended 0-0 at the University of Benin Sports Complex.

In the second semi-final match, it was one-way traffic for the host, Edo Queens which sealed a 3-0 win over debutant, Remo Stars Ladies.

The match pitted Edo Queens’ former coach, Wemimo Matthew against her former team.

Osigwe Goodness broke the deadlock in the first half and doubled the lead with a long-range effort from the left wing.

Suliat Abideen sealed the win in the second half from the penalty spot.

Edo Queens and Bayelsa Queens will face off in the final on Wednesday at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, Edo State.

Ahead of the final, Delta Queens will trade tackles with Remo Stars Ladies in the third-place match.

This is the third edition of the BOWFT with Bayelsa Queens and FC Robo Queens winning the first two editions.
