Sone Aluko Eager to Boost Reading’s EPL Aspirations
In a strategic move, Nigeria’s prolific forward, Sone Aluko, has expressed his enthusiasm about joining English Championship club Reading, aiming to propel them towards Premier League promotion by the end of the season. The 28-year-old, having sealed a four-year contract with Reading in an undisclosed transfer, stands poised to make his debut against Bristol City following the international break on September 9.
Reading, despite a valiant effort in the promotion playoff against Huddersfield Town at Wembley last season, faced a heartbreaking loss on penalties, falling short of Premier League glory.
Speaking about his transition to Reading, Aluko emphasized the formidable challenge that the Royals presented when he played for Fulham. He revealed his observations of Reading’s strengths, stating, “We had some good battles against Reading last year when I was at Fulham. It’s a tough team. I know that from the analysis we’d done on them before the Play-Offs, I think it was four and a half games we had last season because one got called off!”
His expectations for his tenure at Reading were undoubtedly high, “I think this is a team that can push at the higher end of the table, and hopefully, I can help them with that. I believe the team can be successful.”
Aluko also discussed his playing style and what Reading fans can anticipate from him on the pitch, emphasizing an attacking philosophy. “I’m an attacking player, that’s the way I play. I take players on, create chances, take risks. That’s when you create or score goals, when risks are taken, so I play on the edge.” He affirmed that he is ready to face competition for his place in the team, recognizing the talent already present in the squad.
With his aspirations aligned with Reading’s goal of EPL promotion, Aluko’s arrival is set to inject creativity and vigor into the Royals’ offense, offering fans a glimpse of the dynamic playmaker’s capabilities.
