The highly anticipated 2023/2024 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership got underway with holders, Delta Queens playing out a 0-0 draw with debutants, Ekiti Queens at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Ado Ekiti, on Wednesday.

The hosts, Ekiti Queens recruited experienced players in readiness for the season opener and the players didn’t disappoint.

After a goalless first half, the travelers surged in search of the opener but saves from Andy Lucky denied them a precious away win.

The Ado-Ekiti-based side had their chance to snatch a late winner but couldn’t convert.

Both sides will regroup for their next games as they search for their first win of the campaign.

Ekiti Queens have another tough encounter against 2021/2022 league winner, Bayelsa Queens at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenegoa.
