AFCON 2023: Victor Osimhen set to miss Nigeria’s clash with South Africa

Nigeria’s quest to win their fourth African Cup of Nations title is facing a huge setback following the news of Victor Osimhen that may miss the semifinal clash against South Africa on Wednesday.
Information reaching Nigeriafootball.ng from Super Eagles’ camp indicated that Osimhen will not travel with the rest of squad to Bouake on Tuesday where they will be taking on the Bafana Bafana.
It was confirmed by the team’s medical that the Napoli’s striker has suffering from stomach disorder which will see him stay back in Ebimpe for further assessment by the team’s doctor.
The statement also added:”team medics confirmed that he has been placed under close watch with a member of the medical team staying behind in Abidjan with him.
“If cleared by tomorrow morning, he will join the rest of the squad before 5pm.”
Osimhen has being one of Super Eagles’ standout performers in the tournament. His absence will be a huge blow to Jose Peseiro and Nigerians who are expecting him to be threat for the South African team.
