Nigeria’s first choice goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has divulged secrets of his impressive performances in goal for Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.
The Chippa United’s shot stopper has been sensational with the Super Eagles at the ongoing tournament with his incredible saves that have kept Nigeria to the semifinal of the tournament.
He was outstanding with his heroic saves, notably against Cameroon and Angola in the second round and quarterfinal of the tournament respectively.
Asked the secrets behind his superlative display in goal, the former Enyimba keeper attributed it to watching clips of his role model, Germany’s Manuel Neuer and a bit of video games to calm his nerves.
“I love playing my PlayStation to calm myself down,” Nwabali revealed.
“I love watching my role model ‘Manuel Neuer’ before every game even in the dressing room I watch him closely.”
He is expected to be at his best again on Wednesday when the Super Eagles will be taking on Bafana Bafana of South Africa in the semifinal of 34th AFCON as they hope to win their fourth title.
