Former Chelsea star Joe Cole has lauded Arsenal’s Nigerian-born winger, Ethan Nwaneri, as the most exciting young talent in Europe following his standout performance in their 7-1 victory over PSV in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Nwaneri, 17, scored and provided an assist in the first leg of Arsenal’s Round of 16 clash against the Dutch side at the Phillips Stadium, earning widespread praise for his electrifying display.
Cole, who was clearly impressed by the teenager’s performance, believes that Nwaneri is ready for senior international duties, claiming he will be a fixture in the England squad for the next decade.
“For me, he is so good that he doesn’t need the U21s, in my opinion, he is that good,” Cole said.
“He needs to go straight in with the senior squad, get around the team, and get some minutes, because he is an England player for the next 10-15 years.”
The former Chelsea midfielder went on to declare, “I think he is going to be an absolute genius. I think he is the most exciting footballer in England and maybe Europe. What he is doing is incredible.”
Nwaneri will look to maintain his impressive form when Arsenal face Manchester United in a Premier League showdown this weekend.
