Eric Chelle vows to turn around Super Eagles’ fortune: ‘Results will speak for me’

By Wale Mustapha

Eric Chelle, the newly appointed Head Coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, has promised to swiftly implement his game plan and deliver positive results that will silence his critics.

Despite facing heavy scrutiny since taking over the reins from Austin Eguavoen, Chelle is determined to prove his worth and lead the team to success.

The 47-year-old Franco-Malian tactician is confident that with the right approach, he can overcome the pressure and challenges ahead.

“We play football, it’s normal that there is pressure. It’s normal that there is criticism,” Chelle said. “Now, my results and the team’s results will speak for me.”

The Super Eagles currently sit fifth in Group C of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, with just three points from four matches.

With qualification for the tournament in the United States, Canada, and Mexico at stake, Chelle’s top priority is to turn the team’s fortunes around and secure their place on the global stage.
