Evelyn Ijeh’s brace salvages a point for Sweden U-23 against China

Nigeria-eligible forward, Evelyn Ijeh came off the bench to score two goals which helped the Sweden U-23 women’s side to a 3-3 draw with its Chinese counterparts on Sunday.
Sweden were two goals down in the first half as Yuexin Huo and Jiaqi Yu gave the Asian side a comfortable halftime lead.
Ijeh in the 46th minute replaced Wilma Leidhammar before Cornelia Kapocs reduced the deficit for the European side four minutes later.
Yuexin Huo scored her second goal of the game in the 53rd minute to restore China’s lead before Ijeh rose to the occasion to score two goals for Sweden.
Ijeh pulled a goal back in the 54th minute from Matilda Vinberg’s assist.
She equaliszd for Sweden four minutes before the end of the game to ensure that her side avoided defeat against the Asian opponent.
The Vaxjo forward has scored 10 goals in 17 league games for her club this season since their promotion from second-tier Swedish Elitettan to top-flight Dammasvenskan.
Ijeh played a crucial role in lifting her side back to the top flight with 22 goals in 25 games last season. She is still eligible to play for Nigeria’s senior women’s national team by descent.
