Finidi George upbeat about Enyimba winning inaugural Africa Football League

Enyimba head coach, Finidi George is confident the club would win the maiden edition of the Africa Football League.
The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions are part of the eight clubs penciled down to participate in the AFL tournament scheduled to start in October 2023.
Finidi insists the People’s Elephant are a big club that have stamped their feat as a continental champions, and habours high hopes on winning the AFL despite facing up with strong opposition on the continent.
“Enyimba is a big club and will remain so. We have always done well on the continent and sometimes unlucky not to get we wanted,” Finidi was quoted by Prompt News.
“I believe we can win the African Football League. It’s going to be a difficult task, but it is doable.”
The inaugural edition of the tournament will have eight teams compete, while other editions will see the tournament stretching to 24 clubs in the continent.
The AFL will not be replacing the CAF Champions League and the Confederations League as they will be run concurrently.
The winner of the AFL will earn a whooping US$11.5 million, while the participating fee for the clubs is fixed at US$2.5 million and each of the member association of CAF is entitled to US$1 million per annum.
The actual purpose of the AFL is to help Africa clubs construct and maintain their stadiums and facilities.
