Victor Boniface: Xabi Alonso dees Drogba potential in Bayer Leverkusen star

Nigeria international Victor Boniface has shared that his Bayer Leverkusen head coach, Xabi Alonso, sees the potential in him to emulate Chelsea and Premier League legend Didier Drogba.

Boniface, 23, has made a significant impact at Leverkusen, contributing to the club’s historic domestic double and their journey to the Europa League final.

In a recent social media video, Boniface recounted Alonso’s encouragement, stating, “Boni, you have technique, you have the body, you have the size, you have everything, I want you to give me more.”

Alonso has advised him to watch Drogba for inspiration, believing that Boniface can learn a lot from the Ivorian legend.

Boniface recalled a recent match, where he scored the winner in a thrilling 4-3 victory against Wolfsburg.

He mentioned that Alonso emphasized his strength, saying, “I want you to be like Drogba.” Boniface expressed appreciation for Alonso’s support, stating, “When your coach is behind you, you want to give 100%.”

Not only has Boniface been frequently compared to Drogba, but he also revealed that the former Chelsea striker is his role model, further motivating him to reach new heights in his career.
