Nigerian striker Victor Boniface expressed his excitement after scoring his first-ever UEFA Champions League goal for Bayer Leverkusen in their 1-0 victory over AC Milan on Tuesday at BayArena.

The 23-year-old Super Eagles forward found the net after Milan’s goalkeeper, Mike Maignan, parried a shot from Jeremie Frimpong, allowing Boniface to tuck the ball home from close range.

Reflecting on his achievement, Boniface said, “As a striker, it’s important to score every game, not just in the Champions League but in every match.

He added, “I’m happy I got the first goal in the Champions League, so I feel really proud of myself.”

This season, Boniface has made a significant impact, scoring four goals across all competitions for Bayer Leverkusen.
