“Deals come and deals also crash”, Nwabali opens up on failed move to Kaizer Chiefs

Nigeria’s first-choice goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, has explained why a rumored summer move from Chippa United to Kaizer Chiefs did not materialize.

The 28-year-old shot-stopper had been a standout performer for Chippa United last season, recording 11 clean sheets across all competitions, and he played a crucial role in helping the Super Eagles finish as runners-up in the last African Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Despite interest from multiple clubs, with Kaizer Chiefs seen as the favorites to sign him, Nwabali ultimately decided to remain with Chippa United, signing a new three-year contract last month and being appointed the club’s captain.

In an interview with iDiski Times, Nwabali reflected on the situation: “I wouldn’t say I was really affected by what happened after last season and after the AFCON because it’s football.

“Sometimes deals work out, and sometimes they don’t. As a footballer, you have to understand that while deals come and go, you shouldn’t lose your value as a player.”

This season, Nwabali has continued to impress, having played all four games for Chippa United and keeping one clean sheet so far.
