Ibom Angels captain Blessing Okon confident of victory against Confluence Queens

By Monsurah Olatunji

Ibom Angels FC captain Blessing Okon has revealed that her side will bounce back to victory in their Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) Premiership encounter against Confluence Queens on Wednesday evening.
Ibom loss 2-0 at home against Edo Queens in their last match and are hopeful to return to winning ways when they welcome the Lokoja-based Confluence in what will be the last game of first round of the current NWFL Premiership.
However, the Orange Ladies were drawn bye on match week six and are currently occupying the 7th (last) position on the log with three points from five matches, whilst conceding eight goals in the process.
Okon assures that they are more than determined to pick the pieces as they have learned their lessons from previous disappointing results at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium training pitch.
” I really believe in my teammates as the determination and seriousness we have shown in the training sessions for the past week has absolutely given me the hope and believe that our visitors will not go unpunished this time around when we face each other on Wednesday,” Okon told media.
“We have worked hard on our mistakes, our coaches have talked to us, giving us positive tips, to help us take the bull by the horns.
“As players aim high in their careers, we would not like to disappoint ourselves first of all as we are playing this game for ourselves, also to see that we put smiles back on the faces of our fans and sponsors. It is quite painful passing through those difficulty times in our past matches.”
Confluence Queens are on fifth position with seven points and will be looking to end the first stanza of the league with victory.
