Justin Madugu to scout NWFL talents for Super Falcons at Betsy Obaseki Cup

By Samuel Ahmadu
Nigeria women’s national team interim manager Justin Madugu will embark on a scouting mission at the 2024 Besty Obaseki Cup from October 7 in Benin, aimed at identifying fresh talent from the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) for the Super Falcons.
Madugu, supported by coaches Ann Chiejine and Auwar Bashir Makwalla, will be evaluating emerging players as part of the Nigeria Football Federation’s (NFF) mandate to strengthen the squad ahead of future international competitions.
Following the departure of Randy Waldrum after a challenging tenure, the NFF appointed Madugu as interim head coach to lead the Super Falcons through this crucial transition.
Madugu’s primary focus is to revitalize the team by scouting and developing local talent, ensuring a deeper pool of players to compete on the global stage.
The NFF’s decision to have Madugu spearhead this initiative is part of a broader strategy to build a competitive and sustainable Super Falcons team.
Sources confirm that the upcoming training camp, set to begin in late October, will feature locally based players before being joined by overseas-based professionals.
This fresh approach signals a new era for the team as they look to bounce back from a disappointing exit from the 2024 Olympic qualifiers and position themselves for future success.
Under Madugu’s guidance, the Super Falcons will aim to integrate young, dynamic players into the squad, combining them with experienced internationals as they prepare for upcoming international fixtures.
