Napoli boss, Francesco Calzona has issued a stern warning to Victor Osimhen and his teammates at the Italian club.
Osimhen and Kvicha Kvaratskhelia were replaced in the 1-1 draw against Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League which didn’t seat down too well with the Georgian who was replaced by Jasper Lindstrom.
Calzona said he’s unfazed with the big names at the club but will stand with the players giving him result on the pitch.
“I keep the players on the field who are doing well, I don’t look at their names,” the coach said at the Post match presser after the Barcelona game.
“Matteo Politano had an excellent match, he was defending well too with great vigour. Those who do not do well can be removed.”
The gaffer disclosed he had contemplated removing Osimhen earlier but kept him on due to tactical reasons.
“No, in fact I had been ready to take him off earlier, but due to a tactical issue, I kept him on for a few more minutes.”
Osimhen was the hero for Napoli as his goal gave them a point against Barcelona in the first leg of their two legged round of 16 tie.
Trailing Serie A league leaders by Inter Milan by 27 points, Napoli will face Cagliari on Sunday, February 25.
