NFF President Ibrahim Gusau takes helm at WAFU B amidst Flying Eagles’ bronze win

In a significant development, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has been appointed President of the West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone B, following the resignation of Ghana Football Association President, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku.

Simeon-Okraku vacated the position after being elected to the Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) two months ago.

According to WAFU B’s headquarters in Abidjan, Gusau’s appointment is widely supported within the zone, with members confident he will bring continuity and dynamism to the organization.

Gusau had previously served as the First Vice President of WAFU B before assuming the role of President.

This appointment comes at a time of celebration for Nigerian football, as the Flying Eagles, Nigeria’s U20 national team, clinched the bronze medal at the 2025 Africa U20 Cup of Nations in Egypt.

The national youth team also secured a spot in the 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup, adding to the historic achievement.

Gusau, who has led the NFF since September 2022, expressed optimism about his new responsibilities at WAFU B and the continued growth of football in the region.
