Usman Abdallah steps down as Kano Pillars technical adviser citing personal reasons

By Dayo Awoniyi

Kano Pillars FC has announced the departure of Technical Adviser Usman Abdallah, who has stepped down from his position with immediate effect due to personal reasons.

The development was confirmed in an official statement released by the club’s Media and Communications Directorate on Wednesday.

According to the club, Abdallah informed management of a significant opportunity that he believes cannot be balanced with his current role without compromising both responsibilities.

After discussions, both parties agreed that stepping aside was in the best interest of the team’s progress.

Abdallah, who was appointed shortly before the start of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, led Pillars to a 9th-place finish with 53 points from 38 matches — a six-point improvement from the previous campaign.

In a farewell message to fans and club officials, Abdallah expressed appreciation for the opportunity to manage the team.

“Due to something important that has come my way, I have decided to step down as Technical Adviser of this great club,” he said.

“I had earlier informed the Chairman, and we mutually agreed this was the best decision for the club’s future.”

He also praised the fans for their unwavering support. “What I will miss most are the fans—their passion and resilience were key reasons I accepted the role. Thank you for everything.”

Club Chairman Alhaji Ali Muhammad Umar, speaking on behalf of the management, thanked Abdallah for his service and professionalism.

“We appreciate Coach Usman Abdallah for his time with us and wish him success in his future endeavours,” the statement concluded.

Kano Pillars are now in search of a new Technical Adviser ahead of the upcoming NPFL season.
