Tunisian giants Esperance Sportive de Tunis have named 19-year-old Nigerian midfielder Onuche Ogbelu in their 25-man squad for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, set to begin later this month in the United States.
Ogbelu, a product of Fosla Academy Karshi and a former Nigeria U-20 player, is among the youngest in the team. Esperance will compete in Group D, facing CR Flamengo (June 17), Los Angeles FC (June 20), and Chelsea FC (June 25).
Coach Maher Kanzari has opted for squad consistency, making no new signings despite FIFA’s special transfer window. Esperance qualified for the tournament based on CAF rankings, joining African rivals Al Ahly, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Wydad Casablanca.
Ogbelu is viewed as a rising star, with the Club World Cup offering him a chance to impress on the global stage.
