Striker Onyekachi Okafor has voiced his determination to bolster Heartland’s winning momentum in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) through his goals and stellar performances.

The Naze Millionaires had a lackluster start to the NPFL season, resulting in a series of disappointing outcomes. The team underwent coaching changes, with Christian Obi returning for his second stint after a brief tenure by Kennedy Boboye.

Heartland secured their first victory of the season under Obi’s guidance, defeating Abia Warriors 2-0. Okafor contributed one of the goals, taking his season tally to five.

Relieved to see the club’s resurgence and the joy it brings to the fans, Okafor is committed to further success, starting with their upcoming match against Rivers United in Port Harcourt.

“Everybody is relieved that we got our first win after a long while. The first goal was very crucial and I am happy I was on position to get it,” said Okafor.
“I will continue to do my best for the team. We will not just relax with that win. We know we are not where we ought to be. We are going to Port Harcourt with the resolve to go for a win there.
“I was privileged to score against Rivers United in the first leg. I will like to double it with another goal.
“We just need to be very business like from the beginning until the end. It is a game we can get good result and we shall get that by God’s grace.”

Heartland, currently playing home games at the Awka City Stadium in Anambra State, remains rooted at the bottom of the NPFL table, with 23 points from 25 matches.
