Sevilla head coach, Garcia Pimienta, has heavily criticized Libyan authorities for their unprofessional behavior during the Nigeria national team’s recent AFCON qualifier clash against Libya.

The Super Eagles endured a harrowing experience in Libya, where players and officials were reportedly denied access to food and water for over 19 hours before the match was eventually called off by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Pimienta, who was speaking ahead of Sevilla’s clash with Barcelona, expressed his disgust at the treatment, describing the incident as deeply unprofessional and a violation of international standards.

“Very unpleasant. Professional players having to spend so much time in an airport is something that cannot happen,” Pimienta said during the pre-match press conference. “The federations have to be aware of these situations. Spending a day almost without food and without sleep is not acceptable. Luckily, they have arrived in perfect condition.”

Despite the ordeal, both Kelechi Iheanacho and Chidera Ejuke returned without injury, much to Pimienta’s relief.

Sevilla will face Barcelona at the Camp Nou on Sunday, October 20, seeking to break a 21-year winless streak against the Blaugrana at their home ground.
