OFFICIAL: Rofiat Imuran joins London City Lionesses from Stade de Reims

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

English Women’s Championship side London City Lionesses have announced the signing of winger Rofiat Imuran on a three-year contract.

Imuran, who joins on a free transfer after the expiration of her contract with French club Stade de Reims, will be a key addition to the team as they aim for promotion to the Barclays Women’s Super League (WSL). She has already linked up with the squad at Hayes Lane, joining first-team training earlier this week.

The 20-year-old enjoyed two successful seasons with Stade de Reims in France, playing a pivotal role in helping the club secure back-to-back top-six finishes in the French DAkerma.

Prior to her time in France, Imuran played for Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership side Rivers Angels and Sunshine Queens.

Internationally, Imuran has represented Nigeria at multiple levels, including being part of the Super Falcons squad at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia.

Imuran is expected to be available for selection on Sunday, 13 October, when the Lionesses take on Charlton Athletic in the Barclays Women’s Championship at Hayes Lane.

Her arrival is seen as a significant boost for the London City Lionesses as they push for a place in the top tier of English women’s football. She becomes the second Nigeria international in English football after Toni Payne joined Everton this summer.
