Promising Nigerian teenager Seun Akanji has made a significant career move, securing a transfer to Norwegian top-tier club Lillestrøm.
The 16-year-old forward joins from Nigeria National League (NNL) side Sporting Lagos, having impressed during trials with the Birds.
Akanji was courted by several European clubs but ultimately chose to move to Norway for the opportunity to further develop his career.
Though Akanji will not be eligible to play for Lillestrøm until the summer of 2026, the club has reached an agreement to secure his rights once he turns 18.
Akanji’s move follows in the footsteps of Kparobo Ariheri, another Nigerian young talent, who joined Lillestrøm from Remo Stars late last year, making Akanji the second Nigerian prospect to join the five-time Norwegian champions in recent months.
