AFCON 2013 winner, Brown Ideye has urged Victor Osimhen to consider his family upkeep when deciding on his next career move.

Osimhen has been linked with high-profile clubs like Chelsea, Arsenal, and Paris Saint-Germain, but his hefty €130 million release clause is yet to be met by any of these clubs.

However, the reigning African Player of the Year has been tempted by the allure of Saudi Arabian money as he emerged as a target for Al Ahli.

Meanwhile Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda, reiterated that his client’s desire is to continue his career in Europe, stating on social media that the striker “still has much to do in Europe.”

But his potential departure from Europe sparked a wave of criticism on social media with many fans expressing disappointment, and viewing the move as a step down in the 24-year-old’s career and a waste of his potential.

In the face of the growing backlash, former Super Eagles forward Brown Ideye has stepped up to support players’ decision to forego supposed glory in Europe for money in the Gulf.

“You can’t feed your family with trophy, we all play football because that’s the only way out of the hood, we what to have all the good things in life and take care of our family,” he wrote on his X.

“Don’t miss a move that will set you and your family up for life, in football every game you play may be your last.”
