2024 National Sports Festival: Team Ogun defeats Kwara to win gold in men’s football

The host of the 2024 National Sports Festival, Team Ogun men’s football, are kings of the games of football after beating Team Kwara 4-1 in the final clinching the gold medal in Abeokuta.

Before the Ogun state players took to the pitch to play the final of men’s Football, the home fans could already feel an incoming gold medal from their players; filling up the MKO Abiola sports complex to cheer their team.

Ogun State trounced Kwara State 4-1 in the final, and they could have even netted more if they had converted most of the chances they created in the game.

The home crowd provided an electric atmosphere which added to the excitement of the game, and with the quick pace of the match, it made for an exciting viewing.

Ogun state players were on another level and deservedly won the final.

Earlier, the Golden Eaglets, which were at the Festival of Invited Junior Athletes (IJA), won the bronze medal with a 2-0 win over Team Kaduna.

Two first-half goals gave the two-time world champions a deserved win in a dominated encounter.

Abdulmuiz Adeleke and an own goal ensured that the team smiled home with a bronze medal.
