Chiamaka Nnadozie has revealed the secret behind her heroic penalty-saving prowess following her fifth spot-kick save in the UEFA Champions League group stage encounter in .
The Super Falcons safehands was the differencemaker for Paris FC against BK Hacken.
After saving three penalties in the playoffs against Arsenal and Wolfsburg to qualify the French side for their first-ever Champions League, the 23-year-old has now saved two more penalties in the group stage.
With her fifth save in eight appearances of the season in the Women’s Champions League, the African Best goalkeeper is one of the most feared keepers in European women’s football.
Nnadozie saved a penalty for Nigeria in their opening group match against Olympic champions Canada at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. She ended the game against BK Hacken with six saves and a clean sheet, her second in the group stage, and heading into the last game against Chelsea, are still in contention for a place in the quarterfinal.
Speaking after the match, the former Rivers Angels star recounts her penalty heroics for club and country.
“It is just all about focus, being connected to the game,” she said in a video on X from DAZN.
“It was a mistake from the defender but we just had to put ourselves back in the game.
“I feel confident, I believe in the girls (the) morale is high and I believe that if we keep working hard like this, at the end of the game we’d get the win.”
