Jose Peseiro proud to receive MON award after silver-winning Afcon 2023 campaign

Nigeria’s head coach Jose Peseiro has expressed his gratitude to the President of Nigeria Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the honor he received after the completion of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire.

The Portuguese tactician led the Super Eagles to the final of the 24-nation competition but lost 2-1 to the host nation to settle the runners-up spot.

However, Jose Peseiro and the Super Eagles players were received by the president at the Presidential Villa where they were honoured by the presidency.

Each member of the Super Eagles team received the Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) national honor from President Bola Tinubu for their outstanding performance at the just-ended AFCON.

After the presentation, the 63-year-old coach took to his X handle and appreciated the president for the award.

“Honored and proud. We were received and commended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who reinforced what we already felt from the Nigerian people, participating in AFCON made the whole Nation dream, happy and united!”
