Bassey, Iwobi were the heroes as Fulham end Manchester United unbeaten run

Nigerian duo of Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi were the heroes for Fulham as the Cottagers snatched a dramatic 2-1 win against Manchester United in the English Premier League encounter on Saturday.
The Premier League clash decided at Old Trafford was expected to a stroll in the park for the Red Devils who are coming to the fixture on the back of four winning streaks.
However, Fulham had other plans as they needed to make a swift return to good form with few games left to end season.
Both teams canceled each other’s out in first half as the visitors defended well with Bassey combining well with his Nigerian brother, Tosin Adarabioyo and also missed two chances through Iwobi.
The second half was not too different but had much talking points starting from 65th minutes when Bassey lashed home his first goal for the club after the ball fell kindly in the box from a Pereira corner.
The hosts could have restored parity soon after, however, Berd Leno denied a good scoring chances from both Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford.
Harry Maguire tucked home the equalizer for Manchester United with a minute to end the normal time.
Fulham and it’s Nigerian boys were not done yet as they stung the Red Devils deep into stoppage time when Iwobi was put through on goal and placed it past Andre Onana to hand Fulham all three points at Old Trafford.
The result gave the Cottagers their first win at Manchester United after 17 attempts and also mean Marco Silva’s team have gotten their first EPL victory since August, 2023.
For Manchester United, it has dealt a huge blow to their hopes of ending the league in Champions League places for next season..
