Victor Boniface return inspires Leverkusen to big win against Fortuna Dusseldorf

Nigeria international, Victor Boniface made a memorable return from injury to inspire Bayer Leverkusen to 4-0 thumping win over Fortuna Dusseldorf in the semifinal of the German Cup on Wednesday night.

Nathaniel Tella and the Super Eagles talisman were introduced into the foray of the game in the 65th minutes. While Patrik Schick came off for Boniface.

Boniface who has been out injured for three months showed signs of brilliance after his introduction in the game which will be a major boost for the title chasing Leverkusen in the Bundesliga.

Florian Wirtz grabbed a brace while Jeremiah Frimpong and Amine Adli secured Leverkusen’s rout against Fortuna Dusseldorf and their passage to the German Cup final.

Die Werkself will trade tackles with FC Kaiserslautern in the final of the German Cup on May 25 at the Olympia stadium in Berlin.

The last time Leverkusen were at the final of the German Cup ended in a 4-2 defeat to Bayern Munich in 2020.

The Bundesliga leaders have won the German Cup once which came in 1993 as they are yet to loose a game in all competitions this season.
