2026 WCQ: Victor Ikpeba warns Nigeria to be wary of ‘stubborn’ South Africa

By Wale Mustapha
Former Nigeria striker, Victor Ikpeba has charged Super Eagles’ players to do it takes to beat South Africa in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier match.
The Super Eagles will welcome Bafana Bafana to Uyo in a rivalry match billed for Godswill Akpabio International Stadium this week.
Nigeria had the better of the Bafana Bafana through penalties during their meeting at the 2023 African Cup of Nations, (AFCON) semi final earlier this year and Ikpeba reckoned t the Super Eagles must step up to secure maximum points against Hugo Broos’ men.
“South Africa will be stubborn as we saw at the last AFCON, they have a lot going for them and are no longer intimidated by Nigeria,” Ikpeba was quoted by SCORENigeria.
“The Super Eagles have to therefore step up to beat them in Uyo, it won’t be an easy match, but Nigeria have the players to win.
“This is a game of their lives and Finidi (George) has to get them to win this match, we have to support the team to get the job done.”
