NPFL: Niger Tornadoes gaffer Majin Mohammed wary of relegation threat

By Saheed Afolabi
Niger Tornadoes coach, Majin Mohammed, has acknowledged the precarious position his team faces, stating that they could still face relegation if they do not secure a win in their final Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) game of the season.
The Ikon Allah boys experienced a setback with their 1-0 defeat to Heartland at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri. Despite creating numerous chances, Tornadoes were unable to capitalize, which Mohammed identified as the primary reason for their failure to secure at least a point from the game.
Currently sitting in 14th position on the NPFL table with 48 points from 37 matches, Mohammed emphasized that no team from the 11th position downward is safe from relegation. He stressed the importance of winning their last game to ensure their safety.
“We had a very good first half. We had our chances but we couldn’t convert them and then they had only one chance and converted it,” Mohammed told the press.
“We are not safe yet. Nobody is safe yet from 11th downward. We will go back home and see what we can do in the last game. It’s a must-win match for us. We will go back home and put ourselves together. We must get those three points.”
The Ikon Allah boys will face Sunshine Stars at the 16,000-capacity stadium in Katsina on Sunday, June 23.
