Brown Ideye faults Victor Osimhen’s agent over transfer charade
By Monsurah Olatunji
Former Nigeria forward, Brown Ideye, has questioned Victor Osimhen’s agent, Calenda’s reluctance to facilitate a move to Chelsea while he advised his compatriot to consider a lucrative switch to Saudi Arabia.
The former Super Eagles forward who once moved from Europe to China suggested that the 24-year-old could return to Europe in a few years.
Chelsea are interested in signing the Napoli striker but negotiations have stalled over Osimhen’s financial demands.
The Blues are reportedly keen on securing his services on a loan deal with a reduced wage but the player reportedly not open to taking a wage cut.
Ideye narrated how he found himself signed for Tianjin TEDA in the Chinese Super League due to his wife’s reaction after she saw his proposed salary and bonuses.
According to him, he had not planned to ply his trade in China but the monetary compensation that came with the TEDA’s deal changed the story and hence, wanted Osimhen to consider walking the same path.
“If I’m him I will go to Saudi. Play 2 years then go back to Europe he’s still young,” he posted on X.
“Some players are doing that, I don’t know why his agent don’t allow him to take a pay cut and play in his dream club Chelsea, I think is more than we read online.
“I had no plans to go to China, Olympiacos received an offer from TEDA which they can’t refuse, my agent negotiated with TEDA about my salary and bonuses. When I saw the long numbers and told my wife na she pack my luggage for me to leave the next day LOL…”
