OFFICIAL: Nigeria defender Ekerette Udom joins Villarreal in surprise move

Nigerian defender Ekerette Udom has made a surprising move to Spanish club Villarreal, joining from NPFL giants Rivers United.
The transfer, which involves an undisclosed fee, sees Udom signing a two-year contract with the La Liga side.
Udom will initially integrate into Villarreal’s B team, competing in the Primera Federación – Group 2. This step represents a significant opportunity for the promising young defender as he continues his development in European football.
Villarreal FC officially announced the acquisition on their website, expressing optimism about Udom’s future with the club.
“Villarreal FC have reached an agreement with Rivers United for the transfer of young defender Ekerette Udom, who joins Villarreal B’s ranks,” the club stated.
The Yellow Submarines, who have accumulated eight points from their first four matches this season—including an impressive away victory against Sevilla—are preparing for their next challenge.
Villarreal B will face Real Mallorca in their upcoming fixture on Saturday, September 14, as they look to build on their strong start to the campaign.
