NPFL: Finidi George looks forward to clash with Enyimba after win over Lobi Stars

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Rivers United coach, Finidi George believed their next league game against his former side, Enyimba FC will be a tough clash after a hard fought 1-0 win over Lobi Stars in Lafia on Sunday.

A goal by Kabir Abdullahi ensured that the Pride of Rivers returned to Port Harcourt with a slim win which maintained their unbeaten streak after three games.

While admitting the toughness of the encounter, the former coach of Nigeria’s senior men’s national team opined that the important thing was the victory.

“Every victory, we will take it. We are so happy, yeah, but it is just a game,” George said after the match.

“This is nothing. We have to go back and prepared for the next game. That’s it.”

After a 0-0 draw with Bendel Insurance, George’s side defeated Heartland FC 3-1 before Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Lobi Stars.

They will next face his former team, Enyimba FC in their next league game.

“We are playing against Enyimba. It is going to be a difficult game. Like is said, every game as they come. One gae at a time,” He continued.

“We just have to enjoy this victory. It is not easy to come here and pick three points. I comment the boys for their efforts.”

Rivers United top the log with seven points, a point ahead of Remo Stars which will meet Kano Pillars away from home on Sunday.
