Obi Mikel criticizes Nicolas Jackson’s finishing despite recent scoring streak

By Monsurah Olatunji

Former Chelsea midfielder Mikel Obi has once again expressed his disappointment in Nicolas Jackson, citing the Senegalese forward’s failure to consistently meet expectations in front of goal.

Obi previously called out Jackson for his poor finishing, prompting a strong response from the young striker, who scored the fastest Premier League goal of the season just 98 seconds into his next match and shushed his critic.

Despite Jackson’s brief resurgence, which included a two-match goal streak, Mikel remains critical.

Speaking on BeIN Sports, he reiterated his stance, saying, “I’ve always said what I said about Nicolas Jackson. There’s no time I said he is a bad player; he needs to improve on his finishing.”

Mikel’s concerns reflects a broader issue for Chelsea, as he does not view the team as having a reliable goal-scoring striker, despite Jackson’s potential.

The 2013 AFCON winner emphasized the need for improvement in Jackson’s game to help the team succeed.
