NPFL: Mohammed Babaganaru targets first win for Akwa United against Kano Pillars

Akwa United’s Technical Adviser, Mohammed Babaganaru, is confident his team will secure their first win of the season when they face Kano Pillars in Matchday Six of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) on Sunday at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
The 2021 league champions have endured a tough start to the campaign, with three consecutive defeats and just two draws in their last five matches.
Babaganaru is determined to turn things around and is focused on securing the team’s first victory against a recently strengthened Kano Pillars side, bolstered by the arrival of Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa and Shehu Abdullahi.
Ahead of the crucial match, Babaganaru emphasized that Sunday’s fixture would be a turning point for Akwa United, assuring fans that the players are highly motivated and determined to approach the match with a winning mindset.
“We have only one thing to focus on, and that is to ensure we convert our ball play into goals by taking advantage of every chance,” said Babaganaru.
“We have properly assessed our previous matches, identified our mistakes, and worked on them to avoid repeating them in the upcoming game.”
Babaganaru also acknowledged that the team is not where they would like to be on the league table after five rounds. He assured fans that the players are aware of the frustration surrounding their recent results and are committed to putting in the extra effort needed to turn things around.
“The league is very competitive, and every opponent will come with their game plans. Kano Pillars is a tough team with a strong mentality, but we have our own plan, and my players are ready and committed to sticking to it. I am confident they will deliver on Sunday as we aim for our first win of the season.”
